Hej, my name is Renars Krastins.
A UI/UX Designer with a background in front-end web development and event management, I’m a perfectionist in everything I do. I’ve spent the last seven years channeling that drive into digital product design, fine-tuning user flows. I care about the big picture and the tiniest detail equally, because I know that seamless experiences come from getting both right.
From treasure maps to UX
I started out as an events manager, planning pirate treasure hunts for kids—hand-drawn maps, hidden clues and all. But I quickly realized that making a great map wasn’t so different from designing a great interface: it had to be useful (did it point you in the right direction?), usable (could kids of all ages follow it?), and enjoyable (did it spark excitement at every turn?).
So I took my “simple” scavenger hunt map and iterated it again and again testing each version with kids and parents, listening to what worked (and what didn’t), and refining every clue, color and symbol until it felt almost magical. That process research, prototype, test, refine was the moment I fell in love with UI/UX design.
Fast-forward through seven years of digital product design (and a background in front-end development and event management), and I still bring that same hands on, user first mindset to everything I build. Whether it’s a treasure map or a high impact app, my goal remains the same: craft experiences that are useful and genuinely delightful.
One step at a time
When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me surrounded by the people who matter most, my family and the wonderful community around us. We’re a family of dancers, led by my amazing wife who is a folk dance teacher. Naturally, dancing has become a big part of our lives not just as a hobby, but as a way of connecting with culture, people, and joy. Together with our son, we proudly represent our dance team, Ziemeļblāzma (Northern Lights), where I also take care of our social media presence, sharing positive moments, stories, and event highlights with the world.
Outside the dance floor, my family and I love creating experiences for others. One of the most exciting parts of our journey has been organizing events, especially large scale sports games where we act as the main speakers and coordinators. These events can gather around 200 participants over three days, and we thrive on the energy, teamwork, and good vibes they bring.
